Steve Mansfield-Devine :: Freelance Writer & Journalist

I’ve worked as a writer and journalist my entire career, starting in 1981. And I’ve been freelance for most of that time.

I now specialise in information security.

I edit the monthly journals Network Security and Computer Fraud & Security published by Elsevier. And I’m a Certified Ethical Hacker.

You can find out more about my work at WebVivant.

As a writer, I’ve contributed features on subjects ranging from gambling in Las Vegas to life in the US Marine Corps, from teleworking to fly-by-wire. My work has appeared in The Times, The Independent, The Guardian, Business Traveller, FHM, Pilot and an improbably long list of IT publications.

I’m a qualified pilot and the author/photographer of three non-fiction aviation books: Cherry Point, Kaneohe Bay and Photographing Aeroplanes.

Black ProjectIn 2009, I began work on a new co-operative publishing venture, WebVivant Press. That same year, I published my first novel, Lady Caine, a comic crime caper. This was followed in 2011 by my second novel, Black Project, a darkly funny take on conspiracies, strange beliefs and oppression.
